 |  | As long time residents of Jackson, New Jersey 41 years –this father and son Mad Science franchise began 13 years ago. In our former lives Ken Kahn was an accountant for a major book publishing house in New York and David Kahn was working as a private investigator.
We now have programs running all over Ocean, Monmouth and Middlesex Counties. During the fall and winter months we work with many of the schools by doing in-school workshop programs for Pre K and grades K to 6. As the school day comes to a close we have many after-school programs that begin directly after the last bell. In addition to school workshops and after school programs we also perform shows and indeed do terrific birthday parties. In the summer we work with many Recreation Department’s, Community Ed’s, YMCA’s, etc. and run daily programs as well as weeklong camp programs.
The franchise is headquarters in Montreal, Canada and was founded by two brothers. As children, brothers Ariel and Ron Shlien loved to conduct crazy science experiments for neighborhood children. In March 1990, the name "The Mad Science Group® " was registered. When enough parents, teachers and organizations started asking "how can we have Mad Science® in our city?" the next step was obvious, franchising. In 1994, franchises were opened in Toronto and Florida. When we began our franchise in 1996 there were 14 franchisees; there are now over 145 franchises worldwide.
