Now hiring for the 2011 - 2012 school year. This is a part time job only, from 3 to 5 pm, Monday thru Friday based on your availability.
If you like to educate and entertain children, consider this fun part-time job.
We are a science and chess education entertainment company; our goal is to get preschool and elementary age children excited about science and chess. One of the ways we do this is through our science and chess enrichment classes which are held after school at metro area schools. We are part of a franchise system that has 190 locations worldwide. We have been operating in Minnesota for over 12 years.
Most of our classes are held after-school in elementary schools. Each class is an hour in length and generally runs for six to eight weeks. Class size is limited to 20 students. We ask our instructors to arrive at their schools at least 15 minutes before the class begins and stay until the last child is picked up, which is usually at the end of class. We run our series of classes three times throughout the year: fall, winter, and spring. We also run fun science and chess camps in the summer.
Mad Science and Schoolhouse Chess classes are held in approximately 130 elementary schools. When setting up classes you tell us when and where you would like to work. We try to keep you fairly close to your work or home.
We are hiring for Winter classes that run from late January to March. Training is being scheduled for early January. Apply now and we will contact you for an interview. Our instructors teach anywhere from 3 to 5 classes per week based on their availability. The pay varies depending on qualifications and includes increases each season when you first start. For science classes, instructors are also asked to attend our Friday morning meetings which are held at our office in St. Paul, They usually run 30 minutes in length. Instructors receive 8 to 12 hours of training before they begin. A training bonus is awarded after teaching 3 weeks. There are no weekly meetings for chess instructors.
